Mahjong

Another Saturday, another mahjong game between dad and his "friends".

Mom is back early

Mom gets back early from Boracay. She said Boracay was packed and really lively with people. I heard they went in the water with these heavy helmets so that they can walk on the sea floor.

Caitlynn learns to laugh

It's been slowly progressing but we're proud to report that Caitlynn is now laughing like a crazy person on public transport. What did it take? A combination of me making sounds with my tongue that resembled a Jeepney, and Gage hissing like an angry Filipino at a movie cinema.

Enough with the metaphors. Enjoy the video and the pumpkin that's being sprayed about.

Ryan at the Mightee Mart

After a quick hair cut that cost P80 + P40 tip, Ryan goes into Mightee Mart located near Tayuman station. He bought the following items:
  • small wooden chopping board - we don't have one or it is very well hidden
  • 2 small bars of soap - he needs them small for washing after a swim
  • a small pack of Tide - to hand wash his caps, so they don't get ruined
The Chippy here costs P23.

Gina's kid gets Appendicitis

Gina's 8 year old Ella get's appendicitis and had it removed just yesterday. The cost was 80 thousand pesos. She said the cost is mostly for the doctor's fee, she preferred the private hospital over the public ones since her child is still young. I thought that was a wise decision. Unfortunately the insurance only covers about 28 thousand. She still has to cover 40 thousand to get her kid out of the hospital.

May, struggles to leave

May is finding it hard to leave the comfortable routine of watching shows on a Saturday afternoon. In the end she does leave for the party. Ryan, with whom she watches certain shows with decides to go have his hair cut.

Before May left, they have watched The Voice. A new singing competition where 4 judges/coaches (One of them is Christina Aguilera) listens to the contestants blind, chair facing away. If they like what they hear they press a button and the chair will turn around.

Times New Roman

It is funny how little things, and probably insignificant for most people, can bother you - or me for that matter.

As I write this post, I try to shake off this very uncomfortable feeling - like I'm about to get the flu or I had bad seafood.

I cannot stand looking at the Times New Roman font.  Not to offend Times New Roman fans out there, but to use this font is saying to people - I have no creativity, I am too lazy to change the font.

Like everything else, I think one's taste in fonts should evolve.  I've gone garamond, verdana, tahoma, trebuchet and yes even comic sans (uuuggh) and a bit of futura (did anyone see that Stargate Universe episode where they name their new planet Futura?  LOL!)

My new favourite now is Calibri. So clean, so elegant and so pretty in 11 pts. It's a shame Blogger doesn't give me Calibri as a choice.

Now I shall spare you from the very unstimulating Times New Roman.  *CTRL-A Select FONT, Select Trebuchet*

Max and Dad Lunch Out

Lunch for today (and probably for tonight also): egg and eggplant and beef stew. Dad's plate is untouched, also Max is missing. According to Luc, Dad took Max with Ado and hasn't come back for lunch.

Torrent Status

Another weekend coming up. As usual it will be spent watching TV shows. That is all we do, we are either sitting in front of a screen at work or doing the same at home. Looking forward to watching Game of Thrones, ABDC, American Idol, America's Next Great Restaurant, Top Chef Masters, Celebrity Apprentice.

Che is back at work!

Che is going back to the Global Health Limited office on Monday April 2, 2011. That is a health IT company and she is the marketing communications manager. She has been working from home for 4 weeks already but on Monday she will be at the office.

Is she looking forward to it? Yes and no, she needs to wake up early but she will be away from the crying and the angry birds.

A place for trash

"New" furniture can be found everywhere in the Lee household with the recent landfall of "stuff"/trash acquired from Dad's recent bids which he "won". This has solved the previous dilemma of where to put the accumulated objects/trash from previous bids. This cabinet in the picture houses the many second hand objects such as stuffed toys, desk organizers, picture frames and whatnots (wantnots?).

I asked Mom why? She said it was actually May-May the maid who organized the stuff without being asked to. She even put the speakers on the top of the cabinet. (These speakers are not functional so the purpose is decorative.) I find it helps if you laugh at the situation.

What we ate.

I am often asked what I've been eating or what I just ate. People are interested in other people's diet it seems, but I wonder what pleasure they find in that. I checked the tray in Pie's room, so I know he ate siomai with calamansi and iced tea. I realize then there is joy in the invasion of someone else's privacy. I can't wait to let him know later that I KNOW, hoping to annoy him.

For the reader's pleasure I give what I ate for lunch: Garlic broccoli and fried meat balls with rice of course. Enjoy in knowing!

IPad is out!

Inspecting Dad's desk, the IPad we bought for him is nowhere to be found. Apparently he brought it with him when he went out with Ado. Dad did say before that he was planning to brag about it among his fellow bidders. "Mag papasikat ako!" (I am going to shine!). May worries he might leave it somewhere though or it might get stolen.

So far Dad likes to use his IPad mostly to check on items he bids or check his email for new bidding opportunities. He definitely finds it easier to use than a laptop and mouse.

A new chair for May

Dad has recently given May a new chair, most likely acquired from the random assortment of stuff he bids for. May likes the new chair, the old chair has chunks of foam carved out. She does not plan on replacing the old worn out back rest though, her reason: "no reason".

New Chiptunes Episode is Out!

Episode 4 of chiptunes is out. It's basically a retro computer game music podcasts and it is all music. Download it from this link http://chiptunes.podbean.com/

Grant has upgraded his account to store more music. He says there's been 95 downloads in a week. The music is freely available in the internet. Atari ST and Commodore 64 music files are only a kilobyte each and are already archived. When asked what his plans are for the future of chiptunes, he says: "no plans, try and do one once a month, as long as people are getting value out of it, thats all I care".

Grant's advice on Blogs: Make things up!

For this blog, Grant comments it is too specific to have general followers. He suggests: Make things up. For example write about the secret Philippine space program. "What space program!?", I asked. His reply: "Exactly, you're interested already."

Readers may wonder the purpose of this blog. The answer is: it's a joke and a family diary.

Mom Flies to Boracay

Mom was invited by her sister Aunt Elena to Boracay. She left on the morning of April 27, 2011. She will be back on Sunday according to Bing-Bing. Based on the noise of the TV in the parent's room, Dad was not invited. Max says: "I sorely miss her, hope she get's back soon".
